Singaporeans, your wish has come true.

The wet and cool weather will continue for the rest of July 2020.

22°C on a few rainy days

The Meteorological Service Singapore has updated that more thundery showers can be expected in the next two weeks.

The daily temperature is forecast to range between 24°C and 33°C, according to MSS.

The lowest temperature can hit around 22°C on a few rainy days.

However, the daily maximum temperature could hit around 34°C on one or two days in the month.

Why is it raining so much?

The prevailing Southwest Monsoon conditions are likely to persist, with low-level winds blowing from the southeast and southwest on most days.

According to the MSS, the monsoon rainband will likely remain over the equatorial Southeast Asia region in the next two weeks. This explains the short-duration moderate to heavy thundery showers between the late morning and afternoon on some days, which may extend into the evening.

Thundery showers are also expected on a few nights due to the presence of large-scale wind convergence over Singapore and the surrounding vicinity, MSS added.

In addition, the passage of Sumatra squalls is expected to bring widespread thundery showers with gusty winds over the island in the morning on one or two days in the last week of July.

The overall rainfall for July 2020 is forecast to be above-average over most parts of Singapore.
