205 Covid-19 cases discharged, no new places reported visited by infectious Covid-19 cases

There were three cases outside of dormitories announced today.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 334 new cases of Covid-19 infection today (Jul. 29).

This brings the total number of cases to 51,531.

Breakdown of new cases

Cases residing in dormitories: 327

327 of the new cases are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

MOH said that it continues to pick up cases amongst Work Permit holder residing in dormitories, including in factory-converted dormitories, due to extensive testing in these premises.

This is part of MOH's process to verify and test the status of all workers, and the Inter-agency Taskforce had announced it was on track to clear all the dormitories by the beginning of August 2020.

Imported cases: 4

There are four new imported cases, all of whom had been placed on Stay-Home Notice in dedicated facilities upon arriving in Singapore.

Amongst the four imported cases, one (Case 51546) is a Singaporean who returned to Singapore from India on Jul. 17.

Another case (Case 51536) is a Work Pass holder who is currently employed in Singapore, and had arrived from the Philippines on Jul. 15.

The remaining two cases (Cases 51340 and 51560) are Student’s Pass holders who arrived from India on Jul. 14, and from Indonesia on Jul. 17.

Cases outside of dormitories: 3

There are three new cases outside of dormitories, of which two are Singaporeans and one is a Work Pass holder.

All three cases in the community today are linked to previous cases or clusters.

Cases 51369, 51609 and 51610 had been identified as contacts of previously confirmed cases, and had been placed on quarantine earlier. They were tested during quarantine to determine their status, even though they are asymptomatic.

No new places visited by Covid-19 cases

No new locations have been added to the list of places visited within the past 14 days by Covid-19 cases when they were infectious.

Dormitory clusters closed

MOH reported that the Inter-Agency Task Force has been systematically and progressively clearing dormitories through aggressive testing of migrant workers residing in dormitories.

The following dormitories have been cleared, and now house only recovered individuals and those who have recently tested negative for Covid-19 infection. As such, the clusters have now been closed.

    184 remain in hospitals

    205 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities. In all, 46,098 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

    There are currently 184 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital, most of whom are stable or improving.

    None are in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

    5,222 cases who have mild symptoms or who are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

    27 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
