Speaking to the media on July 7 near Rivervale Plaza, Workers' Party (WP) candidate Jamus Lim expressed his appreciation for the online praises about him after the GE2020 debate on July 1.

Lim: I appreciate the opportunity that the party has given me

When asked about the online praise he has received for his performance in the debate last Wednesday (July 1), Lim responded that he was appreciative of the opportunity the party gave him and said that he was "a mouthpiece for the entire party".

"So I appreciate the opportunity that the party has given me, but most importantly, I think I was a mouthpiece for the entire party.

So what I shared on that national debate was essentially our positions, that as Pritam has mentioned, has been long standing."

Lim's response to online comments

Lim also responded to a media query on online comments such as how he might be treated differently if he was a candidate under the People's Action Party as well as questions over his education background.

In response to this query, he replied that he has been focusing on WP's campaign trail in Sengkang and that his family and friends know what he's like:

"What I'll say is this, I think there have been a number of rumours circulating around. I have focused largely on reaching out to the residents of Sengkang and listening to them and on the campaign trail.

My family and friends know who I am. We have been very transparent about any kind of positions I've taken. That is the general position of the party as well. We are very transparent and open with Singaporeans and for Singapore."
