West Coast GRC was by far the closest contest during GE2020, where the PAP eventually prevailed over the Progress Singapore Party led by Tan Cheng Bock.

Speaking after the final votes were in, West Coast GRC MP-elect S Iswaran talked about the contest.

He said:

"First of all we want to thank the voters of West Coast GRC for placing their trust in us."

He noted that it had been a very close contest.

"It has been a very close contest and we know that many of our voters have to think hard about whom to vote for. Grateful that the majority has placed their trust in us."

Iswaran acknowledged his opponents who "put up a vigorous contest" and for presenting the voters of West Coast a choice.

He said that he was "glad" the residents had chosen them and that he promised to live up to that trust.
