Man, 55, arrested for rash act that endangered safety of others along Lorong 16 Geylang

The incident was caught on video.

The Singapore police have arrested a 55-year-old man for committing a rash act that endangered the safety of others.

On July 21, 2020, the police were alerted to an incident where a man was seen driving recklessly along Lorong 16 Geylang.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was believed to have consumed alcohol and was suspected to have intentionally reversed his car towards another person’s car and had hit the car twice, endangering the safety of pedestrians with his actions.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid from police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on July 22.

Suspected drug paraphernalia were also seized from his vehicle.

The man will be charged in court on July 23 with the offence of rash act.

The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to six months, or fine of up to S$2,500, or both.

The offence of drink driving under the Road Traffic Act carries an imprisonment term not exceeding 12 months, or a fine of not less than S$2,000 and up to S$10,000, or to both.
