9 confirmed Covid-19 cases in Blk 111 Tampines St 11 HDB block

Covid-19 testing is optional for residents at low risk.

A total of nine confirmed Covid-19 cases were found in one HDB block of flats in Tampines Street 11.

This occurred after a 66-year-old Singaporean male living at Block 111 Tampines Street 11 was tested positive on June 23, 2020.

The man works at Leo Dormitory, a known cluster, and was picked up during the ministry's proactive screening of dormitories.

After contact tracing, six of his household members were subsequently tested positive for Covid-19.

Separately on June 27, a 15-year-old Singaporean female living in the same block on a different floor reported sick and confirmed to have Covid-19 infection after testing.

One of her household members was also tested positive for Covid-19 after contact tracing.

They reported that they had not interacted with the previous cluster.

58 households placed under active phone surveillance

The Ministry of Health (MOH) took extra precautions and placed 58 households residing in the same section of the block as the two households under active phone surveillance.

This section of the block was serviced by a common lift lobby and stairwell.

MOH is facilitating Covid-19 testing for the households and their visitors.

So far, 160 individuals, comprising of residents and visitors of the affected households, have been contacted.

The common areas in the block have also been disinfected and regular cleaning up has been stepped up.

Covid-19 test is optional for residents at low risk

However, as most residents were not close contacts to the confirmed case, they were assessed to have a lower risk of being infected.

A total of 60 people have been tested so far, comprising of residents and visitors.

They all tested negative.

Another 29 are expected to be tested over the next two days, and an update on the results will be given when ready.
