The Ministry of Health (MOH) earlier confirmed 327 new cases earlier today (July 17).

This brings the total number of cases to 47,453.

New places visited by Covid-19 cases

Several new locations have been added to the list of places visited by Covid-19 cases during their infectious period, i.e. 14 days.

These include:

  • BHG Choa Chu Kang at Lot One Shoppers' Mall
  • Sheng Siong Supermarket (15A Bukit Batok West Avenue 8)
  • Taman Jurong Shopping Centre (399 Yung Sheng Road)
  • Block 16 Bedok South Market & Food Centre (16 Bedok South Road)
  • The Panggung@ Aroma Kampung Restaurant (2 Joo Chiat Complex)
  • Resorts World Sentosa Casino (8 Sentosa Gateway)
  • Starbucks and Marche Movenpick at JEM (50 Jurong Gateway Road)
  • Tokyu Hands Jurong East at Westgate (3 Gateway Drive)

Breakdown of new cases

Cases residing in dormitories: 315

The vast majority of cases continue to be work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

One of the newly confirmed cases is linked to two previous cases to form a new cluster at a construction site at Paya Lebar Quarter Tower 2 (1 Paya Lebar Link).

Imported cases: 3

There were three imported cases, with one Singaporean, one Dependant’s Pass holder, and one Long-Term Visit Pass holder.

The Singaporean had returned from the Philippines on July 6, while the Dependant’s Pass holder and  Long-Term Visit Pass holder are children who had arrived from India on June 26 and July 15 respectively.

All were placed on 14-day Stay-Home Notices (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore and had been tested while serving their SHN.

Cases in the community: 9

There were nine cases in the community.

They comprise six Singaporeans, two Work Pass holders, and one Work Permit holder.

Of the nine cases in the community, one was picked up as a result of proactive surveillance and screening, and four had already been placed on quarantine earlier.

Five of the cases are asymptomatic and were detected through proactive testing.

Eight of the community cases are linked to previous cases or clusters.

The remaining community case, a 72-year-old female Singapore Citizen, is unlinked.

She passed away on July 15, after being conveyed to the National University Hospital’s(NUH) emergency department on the same day for reasons not related to Covid-19.

She had a history of diabetes mellitus and was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on July 16 after her demise.

The cause of death is intracerebral haemorrhage.

Discharged cases & cases in care facilities

321 cases were discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, taking the total of recovered patients to 43,577.

3,684 cases are isolated and cared for in community facilities, while 165 confirmed cases remain in hospital.

There are currently no patients in the intensive care unit.
