10 people in S'pore charged for gathering & drinking at Beo Crescent fitness corner during Phase 2

They intend to plead guilty to their charges.

Ten people were charged in court on Wednesday (July 22) for not complying with safe distancing measures after gathering at a fitness corner near Block 42 Beo Crescent during Phase 2 of post-circuit breaker period.

Aged 18 to 33

According to The Straits Times, the offenders are aged between 18 and 33:

  • Sai Raghu Vaishnavee Ragu, 18
  • Aqlima Abdul Azmi, 19
  • Mohamad Iman Abdul Rahim, 19
  • Remy Shah Hail Mee, 20
  • Mohammad Zack Danial Ahamad Zaki, 20
  • Norsyahmi Norhesham, 21
  • Nur Saliza Mohamed Sani, 23
  • Nurul Sheilla Natasya Suhaimi, 25
  • Nuraznie Ithnin, 31
  • Muhammad Zaki Johari, 33

They were each handed two charges under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act and one charge under the Liquor Control (Supply and Consumption) Act.

At least two of them, Norsyahmi and Zack Danial, live in different units at Block 42 Beo Crescent.

The others had travelled there from other places, including Jalan Bukit Merah, Telok Blangah Crescent and Bukit Batok West Avenue 8.

Intend to plead guilty

All 10 offenders intend to plead guilty to their charges, reported ST, and will be back in court next month.

For each charge under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act, first-time offenders may face a jail term of up to six months and a fine of up to S$10,000.

Repeat offenders may be jailed for up to a year and fined up to S$20,000.

A total of 13 people gathered at the fitness corner

In a police statement on July 21, it was revealed that they had gathered at the fitness corner at around 12:50am on June 28.

After receiving a noise pollution complaint, police found that a total of 13 people had gathered at the location, with portable tables and chairs being set up.

Bottles of liquor were also found.

Of the remaining three individuals who were not charged, a 14-year-old male was administered a 12-month conditional warning for violating restrictions on leaving his place of residence without a valid reason and for violating the prohibition on social gatherings.

The other two will be separately dealt with for breaching the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, as they are also currently being investigated for other unrelated offences.
