A 33-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were charged on Saturday (July 25) with the murder of a four-year-old girl.

The Straits Times reported, based on court documents, that the two offenders are Wong Shi Xiang and Foo Li Ping.

They were accused of killing the girl, Megan Khung Yu Wai, in a unit at Suites @ Guillemard condo in February this year.

Foo is the biological mother of Megan, who is believed to be an only child.

Burned the body in a metal barrel

Wong and Foo, together with another woman, Nouvelle Chua Ruoshi, 30, have also been charged for disposing Megan's body.

They had allegedly moved her body to Paya Ubi Industrial Park and burned it in a metal barrel.

Lianhe Wanbao reported that Wong used to work in a car servicing workshop at the industrial park.

According to ST, it is understood that Wong and Foo are a couple and Chua is their friend.

However, the condo unit where the murder allegedly happened is not registered under either of their names.

The couple and the child moved into the condo several years ago, reported ST.

Death penalty

The Singapore Police Force has issued a press release on the case on July 25.

According to SPF, Megan was reported missing on July 20 at 5:36pm.

Through follow-up investigations, SPF established that she was dead and identified three suspects.

All three suspects will be remanded at Central Police Division and will return to court this Friday (July 31).

Offenders convicted of murder with common intention face the death penalty.

Disposing a corpse to prevent detection of an offence with common intention carries a jail term of up to seven years.
