S'porean woman, 35, charged for leaving hotel for 9 days while on 14-day SHN

She is currently out on bail and will return to court on July 1.

A 35-year-old Singaporean woman was charged on Jun. 10 for flouting her Stay-Home Notice (SHN).

Left hotel on May 4 and returned on May 12

Rameswari Devi Jairaj Singh had arrived in Singapore from Johor Bahru on Apr. 30, according to a press release by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

She was then served with a 14-day SHN from Apr. 30 to May 14.

After immigration clearance, she was brought to a hotel in Novena to serve her SHN.

The hotel she was staying in was the Ibis Singapore Novena hotel, reported CNA.

However, she had allegedly left the hotel on May 4, only to return after nine days on May 12.

Places she visited

In the period that she had left the hotel, ICA stated that she visited the following locations:

  • Toa Payoh
  • Redhill
  • Block 63A Lengkok Bahru
  • Siglap
  • Tiong Bahru

If found guilty under the Infectious Diseases Act and its Regulations, Rameswari may face a fine of S$10,000, or get jailed for up to six months, or both.

She is currently out on bail of S$5,000 and will return to court on Jul. 1, according to Today.
