The opposition have been busy in the lead-up to GE2020. Plenty of declarations of challenges, as well as negotiations to avoid three-cornered fights.

For those who might only have voted in the past few elections, walkovers might seem like an aberration. 2011 saw only one walkover (Tanjong Pagar group representation constituency) and 2015 saw every seat contested.

But walkovers were plenty common before this decade.

In fact, in 2001, there were so many uncontested walkovers that PAP retained power even before a single vote was cast. That was only the fourth time that had happened post-Singapore independence.

So which GRC or SMC might see a walkover?

You can read this to see who has signalled intentions to challenge where.

We'll list out who has expressed intent to challenge there, incumbent parties/ new constituencies will be bolded.

This list is of course not set in stone, and there are still five days before the opposition has to confirm which seats they will be contesting.

But for now, here are the constituencies that doesn't seem to have a challenger as of this article.

Nee Soon: PAP

This is, of course subject to changes. The most likely contender, if there were to be one, is PSP.

PSP's Tan Cheng Bock had said during a walkabout in Chong Pang on June 21 that they might be contesting there.

Tan, who is the Secretary-General of PSP, told reporters that he used to practise as a doctor in Chong Pang "many, many years ago", and that Nee Soon was on the list of areas that the party is looking at.

However, during a Zoom press conference on June 23, Nee Soon was not one of the eight constituencies mentioned by Tan.

Despite Tan's own experience with Nee Soon, he said in the press conference that PSP might be choosing to focus on the west.

"There are certain areas I'm quite familiar with, for example I've been a doctor in the western side of the region, I was a member of parliament on the western side of the region, so we concentrate on the western side."

Which might leave the northern Nee Soon out in the cold.

Since 2015 saw every constituency challenged, let's take a look at who were the opposition in these wards at that time.

WP.

Again anything is possible, but WP is reportedly focusing on "consolidating" their position in the east, according to The Straits Times.

WP earlier today announced the constituencies they will be focusing on.

There was no mention of Nee Soon.

So, while things might take a drastic turn as nomination day draws ever closer, as of this article, it appears that Nee Soon might be the only constituency left uncontested.

But even if it were to be contested, there's one man who seems to be quite welcoming of competition:
