The Covid-19 outbreak hasn't been good news for the food and beverage (F&B) industry in Singapore.
In the past week, two F&B businesses — Starker Group and Teafolia — announced closures in Singapore.
This week, local cafe The Fabulous Baker Boy has announced their departure as well.
Fort Canning cafe ends lease
On May 27, The Fabulous Baker Boy published a post titled "We Won't Be Here In June".
In the post, it shared that they will not be reopening, taking any online, takeaway or delivery orders.
The business was apparently told by the authorities to "remain close till they inform us otherwise".
The cafe stopped operations since April 21 due to the circuit breaker measures.
To make matters worse, the cafe shared that its own future is "uncertain" as its lease at Fort Canning will end this coming July.
According to Danielfooddiary, owner Juwanda Hashim is still looking at alternative locations to move to.
However, given the current situation, the reopening may not be in the near future.
Known for cakes and fried chicken & waffles
The Fabulous Baker Boy has been around for more than 10 years.
It is especially known for its variety of cakes.
Apart from baked goods, the cafe also has mains like fried chicken and waffles and eggs benedict.
