Last week saw the dissolution of SingFirst as a political party.

The announcement was made by its secretary-general Tan Jee Say in a Facebook post on June 25.

Tan also highlighted that people who had approached Singaporeans First had since been directed to other parties, while a number of former Singaporeans First members were active in other parties.

Tan himself has approached his previous party Singapore Democratic Party, with whom he contested the general election in 2011, to rejoin it.

Here is his post:

SDP told Mothership that Tan has applied to rejoin the party. However, while he has initiated contact, it is unclear if Tan will indeed be standing for SDP in the upcoming GE.

Tan had contested the previous two general elections under two different parties, one with the SDP and one under his own SingFirst, the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC in 2011 and Tanjong Pagar GRC in 2015.

This year the Tanjong Pagar GRC will likely be contested by Progress Singapore Party, while SDP will once again compete in the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC.
