Phase 2 officially began on June 19, 2020.

After more than two months since circuit breaker measures began, Singaporeans were finally able to head outside, and predictably, crowds began to form at certain locations.

Here's what the streets looked like on the first Friday night of Phase 2.

Somerset 313 (10pm)

At around 10pm, the restaurants outside 313 Somerset showed some signs of life, although it appeared less crowded than before.

Although masks are not necessary for patrons when they are eating, customers who were leaving the restaurants could be seen donning their face masks as they left the premises.

Apart from the dining areas, the rest of Orchard Road was also noticeably quieter than usual.

In particular, the area in front of Somerset 313, which is normally buzzing with activity, was almost empty.

Cuppage Road (10.30pm)

There were more people to be found near the bars and restaurants at Cuppage Road, albeit less than a typical Friday night before the Covid-19 pandemic.

While most customers were there in small groups, almost everyone followed the rules, and stuck to groups of five and below.

On the other hand, there were fewer couples out and about than one would otherwise expect.

Prinsep Street (10.45pm)

The stretch of pubs and restaurants along Prinsep Street was buzzing with activity, although there were far fewer people at the actual restaurants.

Most of the people could be found smoking and hanging out with their friends outside the F&B establishments, or along the side of the road.

CHIJMES (11pm)

CHIJMES was particularly quiet, with several restaurants either not reopening or closing earlier than usual.

There were plenty of empty seats to be found in the restaurants, with much fewer people lingering around the area.

Tampines (10pm)

In comparison, the heartlands might actually have been buzzing with more activity than Orchard Road.

Many flocked to their nearest coffee shop to grab a drink, hang out with their friends, or simply to enjoy the atmosphere.

Convenience stores such as 7-Eleven were also more crowded than usual, with queues forming despite the late hour.
