Local podcast, OkLetsGo, has received a lot of heat in the past week.

The podcast is hosted by three former Mediacorp radio deejays, Raja Razie, Dzar Ismail and Dyn Norahim.

The show, which has had guests like Minister of Home Affairs K Shanmugam and Member of Parliament for Jurong GRC Rahayu Mahzam, has been accused of repeatedly airing allegedly misogynistic and sexist remarks on the show.

Singapore Mufti shares views

Many have come forward to air their grievances and share their views on the issue via several social media platforms.

One of them includes the Mufti of Singapore, Nazirudin Mohd Nasir.

Here is an Instagram post by Nazirudin addressing the issue:

Mistreating women cause many social ills

In the post, he acknowledged that in many communities, women are often "mistreated and denigrated" as they are seen as less worthy than men.

He mentioned that as Muslims, this is "misguided" and has "caused many social ills".

"Women are equally important and their contributions exceptionally significant. If we still fail to recognise this, we need to take a good and hard look at ourselves."

Use influence for good, not for sexist behaviours

He also said that individuals who have platforms should be encouraged that what they say or do will reinforce and shape the attitudes of people who listen and look up to them.

Thus, he encouraged them to use such influence to create a positive change instead of perpetuating sexist attitudes and behaviours that have "plagued the community for far too long".

"Don't just be a mirror to reflect what we think the society is. Let the misogyny train depart for good so that we can do better."

While he did not explicitly mention OkLetsGo, he did leave the following hashtag: #okletsrespect
