The aviation industry is gearing up for travellers as countries reopen.

Singapore Airlines and SilkAir will be increasing the number of destinations that they will be flying to, and the frequencies on some existing services in the coming two months, according to its website.

SIA and SilkAir flights reinstated for 12 cities

In June and July, SIA and SilkAir flights to the following 12 cities will be reinstated: Adelaide, Amsterdam, Auckland, Barcelona, Brisbane, Cebu, Christchurch, Copenhagen, Hong Kong, Medan, Melbourne and Osaka.

All other flights that had been originally scheduled from June to July 2020 but are not listed in the schedules will be cancelled, SIA informed.

With that, SIA has cut around 94 per cent of the passenger capacity that had originally been scheduled for the two months.

SIA and SilkAir will continue to adjust the capacity to match the demand for international air travel, SIA announced.

Customers will be informed via SMS and email of the changes if they have already provided their contact details to the airlines.

For those whose flights were cancelled will retain the full value of their ticket costs as flight credits which they can use to book another flight by December 31 2021.

They will also be given additional flight credits when they rebook their travel.

Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) announced that travellers will gradually be allowed to transit through Changi Airport from June 2, 2020.

SIA customers will however not be able to transit through Changi Airport and the company will update on transfer lanes in due time.
