Punggol West SMC will see a battle between the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) candidate Sun Xueling and Workers' Party's Tan Chen Chen.
Both Sun and Tan filed their nomination papers at St. Anthony's Canossian School on June 30.
Previously, Sun, 40, was in Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC (Punggol West).
Her Punggol West ward has since been carved out as a single-member constituency.
Sun is currently the Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Home Affairs and National Development.
Tan, 38, was introduced as a WP candidate during one of the Workers' Party press conferences.
It is Tan's first GE as a candidate.
She has been a WP volunteer since 2015, and has been particularly active in Aljunied GRC (Punggol division).
