Lim Tean, leader of the People's Voice (PV), announced on June 19 that his party would contest Jurong Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in the upcoming general election.

In a Facebook post, Lim said that Jurong GRC is the "perfect constituency" where PV's message would "resonate strongly" with the residents.

Lim also added that PV made the decision to stand in Jurong after engaging in "active talks" with friends from other opposition parties.

In addition to Jurong, Lim replied in the comments of the post that the party would also stand in Pioneer and Mountbatten single member constituencies, and Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

Red Dot United earlier indicated interest in Jurong

Earlier on the same day, the newly-minted Red Dot United (RDU) political party indicated an interest in competing in Jurong GRC.

At the time, RDU said in a statement it had opened lines of dialogue with other opposition parties, but none indicated that they would contest Jurong GRC.

The statement said that RDU would field a team in Jurong GRC if no other party decided to contest there.

Earlier, RDU chair Michelle Lee told Mothership that it would not contest constituencies in the upcoming general election if it faces a three-cornered fight.

The People's Action Party in Jurong, helmed by current-Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, scored the highest margin in GE2015, with 79.29 per cent of the vote, beating a team from the Singaporeans First party.
