Mediacorp Suria apologises for subtitling error during baking show

Mediacorp Suria's baking competition show, Kek Champion, aired its season two grand finale on the night of Tuesday, June 16.

However, one particular moment during the episode stood out the most for viewers.

"Cock" instead of "cake"

As the judges were tasting one of the contestants' cakes, the English subtitles may have left some viewers wondering if they were really watching a baking competition series.

The translation stated: "I can feel the soft texture. Your cock is very soft."

The word "cock" was presumably supposed to be translated to "cake".

Mistake went viral

Facebook user Bobby Bob captured the mistake and uploaded it online.

He said: "@mediacorp_suria you can do better than this ya! Cake or cock!"

The post has since gone viral. It had over 4,500 shares as of the time of writing.

Suria apologises for error

On June 17, Mediacrop Suria issued an apology for the blunder.

In a Facebook post, the local channel said:

"We are sorry for a subtitling error last night in the final episode. For those who have reached out to us, thank you and we hear you."

Suria then added that the mistake has been rectified.
