Two policemen in Malaysia rescued an injured dog lying helplessly in the middle of a busy Federal Highway on June 12.

The Shah Alam district traffic policemen spotted the motionless dog at kilometre 13.8 of the highway, Malay Mail reported.

“We were doing our rounds and upon seeing the dog, we got down and quickly cordoned off that lane as we didn’t want any vehicle to hit the dog,” said Corporal Shafie Jaafar.

“We also noticed that parts of the dog's body were bleeding and we think it's the result of a vehicle hitting it.”

The other policemen is named Corporal Izwan Nabiah.

The two policemen then lifted the dog to the side of the road to safety.

A passerby who stopped then asked them what was happening.

He then offered to take the dog home.

“The man decided to take the dog home and was also willing to send the dog for proper treatment," said Shafie.

Shafie said that it was his nature to help anyone, be they human beings or animals, as long as they needed help.

He said: “I was also overwhelmed with sympathy when I saw the dog on the road. I felt that it was also my responsibility to help it in whatever way I could.”

The Facebook post about the rescue has received some 73,000 reactions.
