Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan is retiring from politics after 19 years.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong thanked Khaw in a letter on June 26 for his "lifetime of public service to Singapore".

The letter highlighted the roles Khaw took on in the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of National Development and the Ministry of Transport during his career in politics.

"Besides your ministerial duties, you also made significant contributions to the People's Action Party," PM Lee wrote.
