The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed an additional 214 cases of Covid-19 infection in Singapore as of Monday, June 15, 12pm.

This brings the total number of cases to 40,818.

243 cases in hospitals

There are three new cases in the community, all of whom are Work Permit holders.

None are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents.

777 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

In all, 30,366 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

This is about 75 per cent of the total number of Covid-19 cases in Singapore since the start of the outbreak.

There are currently 243 confirmed cases who are still in the hospital, with two cases in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Places visited by community cases

MOH regularly updates a list of public places visited by confirmed cases for more than 30 minutes during their infectious period.

Those who had been identified as close contacts of confirmed cases would already have been notified by MOH.

As a precautionary measure, those who had been at these locations during the specified timings should monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit.

They should see a doctor promptly if they develop symptoms of acute respiratory infection (such as cough, sore throat and runny nose), as well as fever and loss of taste or smell, and inform the doctor of their exposure history.

MOH also said that there is no need to avoid places where confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been. The National Environment Agency will engage the management of affected premises to provide guidance on cleaning and disinfection.

Phase 2 will start on June 19

Earlier today, the Multi-Ministry Taskforce (MTF) announced that Phase 2 will officially begin on June 19, due to the stable community infection rates.

In Phase 2, social gatherings of up to five people will be allowed, although social distancing measures should still be maintained where possible.

Dining in will also resume at F&B establishments as well as hawker centres, although live music and television screenings will not be allowed.

Retail businesses will also be able to reopen their physical outlets.

Parks, sports facilities and public facilities such as swimming complexes and gyms will be allowed to open, although caps on capacity will be imposed to reduce the risk of community transmissions.

However, certain activities will not be able to resume, as they are still at risk of spawning large clusters of infections, due to the nature of the activities.

Examples of activities and settings that will not be able to resume on June 19 include churches, cinemas, bars and libraries.

Although Phase 2 will mean that many activities will now be resumed, Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong emphasised that members of the public must continue to put on face masks, and businesses must allow employees to continue working from home whenever possible, in order to reduce the risk of new community cases.
