An elderly man visited a hair salon located in Clementi for a simple haircut, but ended up getting charged for two additional hair washes into the bargain.
Claimed his hair was bacteria-filled
According to a Facebook post by one Suma Lee, her father had allegedly visited Organic Salon at Blk 443 Clementi Ave 3 for what he believed to be a cheap haircut.
The elderly man had received a S$3 voucher for the haircut distributed outside the salon.
Upon entering the salon, he confirmed with the male stylist that the haircut cost S$3.
However, the stylist proceeded to ask him to wash his hair.
When Lee's father reacted with confusion, the stylist apparently explained in Chinese that his hair was "full of bacteria", and one was required to wash their hair before a haircut.
Believing that this was perhaps a new measure in light of the Covid-19 situation, Lee's father agreed.
Attempted to push father to purchase hair treatments
The stylist then conducted a "scalp scan" on the man, and commented that he needed some hair treatment, or "the bacteria would cause his blood vessels to burst".
When Lee's father objected to the offer of hair treatment, the stylist apparently led him for a second hair wash.
Lee stated that throughout his time in the salon, the stylist kept pushing her father to purchase hair treatment packages which apparently cost thousands of dollars, which her father did not agree to.
Unfortunately, Lee's father received another shock upon payment -- the bill amounted to S$35, much more than the S$3 haircut he had been expecting.
When questioned, the stylist explained that the extra cost was due to the two hair washes.

Lee said her father simply paid and left the salon feeling upset, and urged social media users to beware of such scams.
"Dad quickly paid and left feeling disappointed and upset with his uneven haircut...
We hope that this post could raise some awareness on such atrocious scams. Please look out for your parents or grandparents because they love to target unsuspecting elderly!"
Lee's post has since gone viral, garnering 964 shares in a day.

It appears this isn't the first controversial incident the salon has been involved in.Earlier in January, one other customer expecting a S$3 haircut was allegedly charged S$20.
The person claimed that a similar situation occurred to their friends at the same salon as well.
