A remote concert streamed by K-Pop boyband BTS on June 14 turned out to be the world's largest paid online music event in terms of the number of viewers.

Number of viewers would've amounted to audience of 15 stadium concerts

According to the group's management, Big Hit Entertainment, "Bang Bang Con: The Live" drew about 756,000 viewers throughout the concert, which lasted for around 100 minutes, reported Yonhap.

The concert was streamed remotely from a studio in Seoul, South Korea.

Fans from 107 countries and regions, including South Korea, United States, China, Britain and Japan, tuned in to view the online event.

The management also shared that the size of the online crowd that turned up for the concert would've amounted to the combined audience of around 15 stadium concerts.

Earned at least S$25 million in total

According to Allkpop, the ticket price for the online concert was approximately 30,000 KRW (S$34.50), amounting to at least S$25,875,000 with 750,000 viewers.

The concept of "Bang Bang Con" revolved around "rooms," with "bang" being the Korean word for "room".

12 songs were performed during the concert with stages specially set up for the event. Intermission-type talk segments were also part of the event, similar to how a physical concert would run.

While there were some netizens complaining about needing to pay for the online concert, many fans who tuned into the event shared that they found the concert worth the price.

In 2018, an average ticket for a BTS concert in the U.S. was roughly USD$478.98 (S$667), according to Forbes.

One fan explained on Twitter on why the online concert was appropriately priced, considering the operating costs to hold the concert remotely.
