Member of Taiwanese band 5566, Zax Wang, has been married to his actress wife Ji Qin for 17 years now.

Some may think that being married to the same person for close to 20 years may get a little boring.

But Wang and Ji think they have grown closer than they have ever been.

Wang will be turning 40 this year, while Ji is 44 years old.

In an interview with Taiwanese media BabyHome, the couple shared what they do to keep their marriage fresh despite being together for so long.

Chatting about anything

According to Wang, one of the reasons why they're still so close is because of their ability to talk about anything and everything.

"We've known each for over 20 years and have been married for 17, so usually the spark won't be there anymore. But for us, we always find ourselves chatting until late at night."

Ji agreed with her husband and added that despite coming home after a tiring day at work, she would always have the energy to chat with him until 2:30am in the morning.

"We were already on the bed and our eyes were closed, but we would still continue to talk and talk," she laughed.

Even when they travel overseas, the couple would chat for the entire day.

They would bring along a book to read during their travels but it would usually be set aside as the two would chat throughout the entire journey.

"It takes quite a while for us to finish a book," she admitted.

Marriage tensions

However, when it comes to a relationship as long as theirs, there are moments when the couple would go head-to-head.

Ji said, "Each person has their own flaws and it will come to a point in a marriage when all you can see are your partner's flaws. So for me, I always remind myself to focus on his good qualities too."

One thing in particular that stood out to her was Wang's willingness to accept his faults.

"When tensions are high and we're unhappy, he would tend to be more hot-tempered. When that happens, I'll tell him that he's being too unreasonable and that I'm uncomfortable with how he's acting."

Since then, he would ask her to tell him if he was ever making her feel uncomfortable, so that he can become better.

"When people make promises like that, you would wonder if they would actually keep them, but for my husband, he really does keep to his word and I really admire that about him."

On other hand, Ji mentioned that she would usually forget what she's supposed to do and Wang would jokingly scold her.

Traveling the world

Towards the end of the interview, she shared her wish to grow old together with her husband and got emotional.

After Wang teasingly reminded her that he's still alive, Ji pointed out how some couples don't even want to be with each other as they grow older.

Wang also brought up another wish that the couple shared, which was to travel the world together.

When Wang found out that it has always been his wife's lifelong dream to go on this journey, he promised her that he would work hard to grant her wish.

And it seems like he has been walking the talk.

Ji confirmed that Wang is already planning a travel itinerary.

"There are many people who just let their dreams remain dreams but for him, he really sets out to achieve them. He even started making plans to travel the world, so I really think he's amazing."
