Ever since closing on April 8, the tower has finally re-opened on May 28.

It will also continue to remain open till June 14, 2020, albeit with shorter opening hours.

Visitors will have to climb 600 steps from street level to main deck

There are two viewing decks in the tower - a main deck, which is around 150 metres up in the sky, and a top deck.

Visitors who want to make their way up to the main deck, which is about half-way up the total height of the tower, will not be ushered in to elevators, NHK reports.

Instead, they are encouraged to climb 600 steps from the street level to the main deck:

They will have to stay at least seven steps apart.

According to the tower's official website, the climb is expected to take around 12 to 15 minutes.

Visitors can look forward to spectacular views of Tokyo on the way up, though.

The reason for the emphasis on stairs is to allow visitors who might need the elevator more to have access to it.

Elderly folk and people with disabilities will be allowed to use the elevator, but due to safety measures only five people, including the guide staff, are allowed in the elevator at one time.

According to The Japan Times, visitors with a temperature of above 37.5 degrees will be denied entry.
