The person behind the infamous @sharonliew86 Twitter account, who once posted that "smart, chinese womans" do not want to sit next to "smelly apuneneh", is neither Chinese nor female, according to Minister for Law and Home Affairs K Shanmugam.

And apparently not very smart, since the Singapore Police Force (SPF) has been investigating the 34-year-old man for posting offensive content against Indian migrant workers.

The man tagged several ministers in one of his offensive tweets

In a Facebook post, Shanmugam said that through police investigations, it has been revealed that the person involved is a man, not a female named Sharon Liew, and not Chinese.

He referred to a series of tweets made by the man in March 2020, where he insulted Indians by claiming that Covid-19 is the "apuneneh virus", tagging Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Minister for Health Gan Kim Yong, and Shanmugam's Twitter accounts in the process.

The man also said that smart Chinese women have been practicing social distancing in the MRT, by avoiding "smelly apuneneh".

Shanmugam said that the man's actions were done to stoke anger, unhappiness and racial tensions among Singapore residents, and promised to take action against the man.
