People were recently seen gathering around the Robertson Quay area during the weekend of May 17.

The circulating photos showed F&B establishments along Robertson Quay selling alcohol, with some customers hanging out outside.

A few were also spotted without masks on.

Following that, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) ordered a slew of food and beverage (F&B) businesses at Robertson Quay to cease the sale of takeaway alcohol immediately.

Persons under investigation

In response to the incident, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Masagos Zulkifli provided an update on Facebook on May 18.

Masagos said that the police have traced a number of the individuals who gathered in the area.

"These persons are non-Singaporeans, and are currently under police investigation," he said.

Masagos said that URA will continue to monitor the area with the SPF to ensure compliance by operators and individuals.

Enforcement action will also be taken against business operators and individuals found to be in breach of safe distancing measures.

In his post, he also reiterated that the circuit breaker can only work "when everybody plays their part", and everyone should abide by both the "letter and spirit of the law".

He also urged people to report offenders through the OneService app with specific details and pictures.
