Face masks have become a highly sought after item in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19, Singaporeans were entitled one reusable face mask earlier this year.
One resident living on the ground floor at Jalan Bahar washed and hung up a black reusable face mask along the corridor.
However, the mask was taken off the laundry rack by one passer-by recently on May 15, at around 7:15am.
The act was caught by the CCTV placed outside the unit.
Woman casually takes reusable face mask from ground floor unit
In the video, a woman with bags of groceries could be seen walking along the corridor that morning.
The reusable mask hanging outside the unit appeared to have caught her attention, as she did a double-take.
Just as she was about to walk past, she turned back to grab the reusable mask off the rack.
She then continued walking while inspecting the mask in her hands.
Resident decides not to pursue the matter
A resident of the unit shared that they decided not to pursue this matter subsequently.
"Ok la cased close since parents said let go since first timer Hahaha! U hamcai sengket (cheapskate)!"
While the original post has been deleted, the video has already been widely circulated.
The video was shared on All Singapore Stuff's Facebook page.
Many viewers condemned the action. Some were shocked that the woman was not deterred by hygiene concerns, as the reusable mask was probably used several times.
