On May 9, Chained Dog Awareness Singapore (CDAS) posted an urgent plea for help on Facebook.

According to the post, they received a video of a man dropping four to five puppies into a drain in Singapore:

This was a tip-off based on someone who said a friend's father had witnessed the incident.

In their post, CDAS acknowledged that the information was "sketchy" and they don't have more details, but they sought help for members of the public to comb through the area to save the puppies.

CDAS also mentioned that they were alerting the Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) to the incident.

Volunteer to help

Since the video was first posted close to 12pm today, there have been over 100 comments on the post.

Many also said that they were heading towards Upper Peirce Reservoir and Lower Peirce Reservoir after a few people identified these locations as the one in the video:

After a while, some Facebook users urged people to not go to the reservoirs anymore.

NParks at the scene

According to them, representatives from NParks were at Upper Peirce Reservoir and had asked people to move out of the park.

Dogs found with men

In a statement given to Mothership, NParks shared that they have located the man in the video.

The dogs, who are his pets, were also found and are said to be "well".

Here's the statement in full:

"The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of the National Parks Board (NParks), has located the man captured on video, dropping dogs into a drainage canal that leads to the Lower Peirce Reservoir.

NParks has checked, and the dogs, which are his pets, are well. We thank the public for their concern over the dogs’ safety.

The man claimed that he had brought his pet dogs for a swim at the canal. Investigations are ongoing and we ask the public not to speculate on the details of this case and allow investigations to run its proper course."
