S'porean man, 20, arrested in connection with murder of 38-year-old man at Punggol Field

The police have arrested a 20-year-old Singaporean man in connection with the murder of a man at Punggol Field Road, which happened on May 10, 2020.

A 38-year-old man died after he was found injured along Punggol Field.

According to a police news release on May 16, preliminary investigations revealed that the man is not known to the victim, and is believed to have allegedly acted alone.

Police investigations are also continuing.

Murder at Punggol Field

The police said on Monday, May 11 that they received a call for assistance along Punggol Field at about 11pm on Sunday.

The man was taken to Sengkang General Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The road where the incident took place was cordoned off on Monday morning.

On May 16, the police identified and arrested the man at 2:45am following investigations, ground enquiries and review of CCTV footage.

Man will be charged in court

The man will be charged in court on May 17, 2020 with murder under Section 302(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries the death penalty.

The police will work with the prosecution to seek a court order, for the man to be remanded for psychiatric evaluation.
