The month of Ramadan is quite synonymous with the popular Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar and the smaller neighbourhood Ramadan bazaars.

This year, however, Ramadan bazaars have been cancelled because of the developing Covid-19 situation.

But that doesn't mean you have to miss out on the well-loved bazaar food.

Here are four mini Ramadan bazaars you can find all over Singapore.

1. Ayer Rajah Food Centre

Ayer Rajah Food Centre is known for its wide selection of halal food, especially Indian-Muslim food.

During the month of Ramadan, you can expect a wider range of food from most stalls, including tulang (S$10 to S$15), a mutton bone dish slow-cooked in red sauce.

Some stalls also sell an assortment of kuehs:

You can also get air katira, a cooling drink often served with basil seeds, for an average of S$2 per pack or S$5 for three packs.

Do come early, though, as these items usually sell out before 5pm.

2. Afghanistan Family Restaurant

If you live in the East, you can find some Ramadan goodies at Afghanistan Family Restaurant.

Here, they offer an assortment of food like kentang ball (potato ball filled with minced meat), roti daging (bread filled with beef) and porridge.

They also have the milky version of air katira.

  • Puteri salat (glutinous rice kueh with pandan-coconut custard)
  • Apam beras (steamed rice cake)
  • Kole-kole kacang (steamed green bean kueh).

And of course, the star of the show, Ramly burgers.
