The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) is investigating viral photos of two men dressed in Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) uniforms whilst appearing to engage in explicit acts.

According to AsiaOne, Twitter user @KingMrXX uploaded two pictures on Jan. 20, 2020:

His tweet could previously be viewed publicly.

However, the account has since been deleted after another Twitter user brought the post to MINDEF's attention.

MINDEF investigating

MINDEF stated in a tweet reply:

"Thank you for alerting us to this. We will forward this to the relevant agency for follow-up."

In response to media queries on May 17, MINDEF said that the Singapore Armed Forces "does not condone any inappropriate use of [SAF] uniforms" and the inappropriate acts are "disrespectful" to SAF servicemen and women.

"Inappropriate acts involving our uniforms are disrespectful to our servicemen and women, and undermines their dedication and commitment in the defence of our country."

A police report has been filed and any serviceman who makes unauthorised use of any part of the SAF uniforms could be charged in court, the statement added.

Can face a fine of S$400 or jailed up to three months

Under Singapore's Decorations and Uniforms Act, any unauthorised person caught using or wearing any uniform or part of a uniform of the naval, military, air or police forces can be convicted in the Magistrate’s Court.

If found guilty, the offender can be fined up to S$400 or face a maximum jail term of three months.
