This is how they have always cut their hair -- amongst themselves.

Many would be able to empathise with having an overgrown mop of hair during the last three weeks of circuit breaker as barbers and hairdressers were not allowed to operate.

Some, including co-chair of the Multi-Ministry Task Force for Covid-19, Lawrence Wong, resorted to asking their loved ones to help cut their hair.

Similarly, the migrant workers who are currently housed at the Singapore Expo Community Care Facility have been cutting their compatriots' hair during their stay there.

According to a May 24 Facebook post by Singapore General Hospital (SGH), dedicated areas within Halls 7 to 10 at the Singapore Expo were set aside for migrant workers to cut their hair and trim their beards.

This, said the hospital, gives the workers a sense of normalcy as they have always been cutting each other's hair in the dormitories.

"Although simply furnished with a few tables and chairs, the area is a welcome addition to the existing amenities in the Hall for our migrant worker patients to make their stay comfortable," said SGH.

This set up is part of Project Smart, an initiative led by allied health professionals from SGH and National Cancer Centre Singapore with support from HealthServe, SingEx, Certis, and Resorts World Sentosa.

Under Project SMART, which started on May 20, migrant workers at Singapore Expo were also provided with hair clippers.
