The wife of a migrant worker who recently passed has expressed her thanks to those who contributed to an online campaign to raise funds for three migrant worker families.
Subbiah Sivasankar, 37, died of pulmonary thromboembolism, a sudden blockage of an artery in the lung, on Apr. 22.
His wife has to look after two children and her mother-in-law
The campaign also contributed to the families of two other migrant workers who recently passed away: 32-year-old Suppiah Shanmuganathan, and 46-year-old Alagu Periyakarrupan.
In a Facebook post, Member of Parliament (MP) Louis Ng published a letter written by Sivasankar's wife, Sangeetha Sivasankar, who thanked the people who helped her financially and mentally.
"A small help can make a big difference," she wrote.
The handwritten letter revealed that she is currently living with two children, aged seven and three respectively, as well as her mother-in-law.
She also stated that she was devastated by her husband's passing, and lost her hope, given her situation.
"I don't want live in this world without my better half," she wrote.
However, she acknowledged that she was responsible for the lives of her children and mother-in-law, and said that she has since changed her mindset.

Singaporeans donated more than S$90,000 over four days
The campaign was organised by Ng and Dipa Swaminathan from ItsRainingRaincoats, a local initiative that helps migrant workers.
In his Facebook post, Ng said that the donations will allow Sangeetha to plan a future for her family, knowing that she will have a regular income gathered from the funds raised in Singapore.
He also urged Singaporeans to donate in order to help the families of three migrant workers who passed away in Singapore last month.
At time of writing, the fundraiser has not reached its target donation amount of S$150,000, falling short of around S$5,000.
This was up from approximately S$54,000 raised on May 3, four days ago.
