Covid-19 related deaths of two S'poreans, ages 97 & 73, S'pore's death toll rises to 20

They were both confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on April 7.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced on May 6 that a 97-year-old female Singaporean and a 73 year-old male Singaporean have died from complications due to Covid-19.

This brings Singapore's death toll from Covid-19 to 20.

MOH also confirmed 788 new Covid-19 cases on May 6, bringing the total number of cases to 20,198.

Death of Cases 1414 and 1528

Case 1414, a 97-year-old female Singapore Citizen, has passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection on the night of May 5.

She was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on Apr. 7, and had a history of hypertension.

The National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) has reached out to her family and is extending assistance to them.

Case 1528, a 73-year-old male Singapore Citizen, has passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection on May 6.

He was also confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on Apr. 7, and had a history of hypertension, hyperlipidaemia and diabetes mellitus.

Singapore General Hospital has reached out to his family and is extending assistance to them.

Recent deaths in May

So far in May, Singapore has seen five Covid-19 deaths, as well as two other deaths of Covid-19 patients that have been linked to other causes and not categorised as Covid-19 deaths.

On May 1, the MOH announced Singapore's 15th Covid-19 death — Case 2728, a 60 year-old male Singapore Citizen with a history of hypertension and hyperlipidaemia.

He was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on Apr. 13, and passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection on May 1.

The following day, May 2, MOH announced two more deaths, although one was later established to not be from complications due to Covid-19.

The two cases were Case 1323, a 76-year-old male Singapore Citizen, and Case 17410, a 47 year-old male Bangladeshi national.

Case 1323 was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on April 6, and had a history of cancer.

Case 17410 was a 47-year-old male Bangladeshi national who was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection after his death. MOH said on May 3 that the cause of his death was ischaemic heart disease.

Both passed away on May 1.

On May 3, an 86-year-old female Singaporean — Case 14744 — died from complications due to Covid-19.

She was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on Apr. 27, and had a history of diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidaemia — the condition of having a high level of cholesterol or triglycerides in one's blood.

On May 5, MOH announced that Case 16370, a 44-year-old male Bangladeshi national, has passed away earlier that day.

He had been admitted to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital on Apr. 29 and was treated for a heart attack.

He was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on the same day, and died on May 5.

MOH announced the cause of death as a heart attack.
