465 new Covid-19 cases reported in S’pore on May 16, taking total past 27,000

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 465 new cases of Covid-19 as of 12pm on Saturday, May 16.

This brings the total number of reported cases in Singapore to 27,356.

Among the confirmed cases, four are Singaporeans/PRs.

The majority of the cases are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

Further updates will be shared in a separate announcement from the Ministry later in the evening.

Details as of May 15

On May 15, 1,275 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals and community isolation facilities.

A total of 793 confirmed cases and five new clusters were reported on the same day.

The clusters are:

- 80 Kaki Bukit Industrial Terrace

- 48 Toh Guan Road East

- 55 Tuas South Ave 1

- 119 Tuas View Walk 1

- 33 Tuas View Walk 2

MOH has been monitoring existing clusters for any further transmission.

On May 15, Minister for National Development Lawrence Wong also shared more about the stage Singapore is in with respect to the pandemic.

He said our country is currently in a "good position" to start easing Circuit Breaker restrictions.

However, he also cautioned that as measures are rolled back, we should be aware that there might be an increase in Covid-19 cases in our community.
