S'pore man spots nightmare-inducing amount of maggots in lift's CCTV at Tampines

Tampines Town Council tells Mothership that the maggot situation has been cleared up, and that they will find the root cause for the incident.

"The Town Council has removed the maggots from the CCTV and cleaned the lift thoroughly. We are conducting a thorough investigation to find out the root cause and will act swiftly to prevent a repeat occurrence. It is our priority to maintain good public hygiene, and we will monitor the case closely. As such, residents can rest assured that this will be dealt with seriously."

On May 21, Muhammad Farhan posted a Facebook update about something he saw in his lift at Tampines.

Just a heads up for those who find maggots, or a whole squirming bunch of them, a bit off-putting, that's exactly what you're going to see.

Talking to Mothership about this particular incident, Farhan said the lift had smelt weird for the "past few days".

The video itself was taken about three days ago, May 18.

In response to Mothership's queries, the Tampines Town Council says they are aware of the situation, and is "in touch with the resident". They are also currently looking into this.

When Mothership went down to the block at around 2.40pm, and the lift was indeed rather pungent, there was already a man taking out the CCTV and appeared to be cleaning it.
