A part-time food deliveryman was allegedly assaulted by a customer while he was delivering pizza.

The incident happened on April 30 at about 5:20pm at 125 Ang Mo Kio Ave 6, reported Lianhe Wanbao.

The deliveryman, a 50-year-old Mr Zhang, is a taxi driver who recently turned to food delivery.

According to Wanbao, Zhang had delivered the pizza to the young person on the 11th floor, who then gave him a S$50 note.

As Zhang took out the change, a middle-aged man inside the house walked past. Zhang glanced at him and their eyes met.

The middle-aged man allegedly flared up and shouted, "What are you looking at! So what if you're a food deliveryman!"

He then opened the gate and dashed out of the house.

Zhang told Wanbao:

"I saw an expression of fear on the young person's face and that made me feel uneasy. But because I hadn't returned the change, I didn't leave immediately."

The middle-aged man reportedly dashed towards Zhang and punched his right ear.

The young person wanted to hold back the older man, but was quite helpless, according to Zhang.

Dazed and in pain, Zhang handed over the change to the young person and turned around to leave but the older man allegedly punched him again, this time on Zhang's right cheek.

Zhang ran down to the 10th floor but the middle-aged man didn't pursue him immediately. The deliveryman then took the lift down to the first floor.

On the first floor, Zhang was about to call his company when the middle-aged man appeared on an e-scooter.

The man reportedly disembarked and continued to provoke Zhang and aimed two more punches at him.

This time, Zhang said to Wanbao, he was ready. He ducked the blows and ran away from the man, who proceeded to chase after Zhang on his e-scooter.

Zhang ran three blocks and hid at Block 128 to call the Police.

According to Wanbao, the Police and SCDF arrived on the scene in 10 minutes.

The Police confirmed with Mothership that a report was lodged.
