Thailand is extending its ban on international passenger flights until the end of June 2020, the country announced on Saturday, May 16.

A previous order by the Civil Aviation Authority was set to run until the end of May.

The extension comes despite new Covid-19 cases in the country have dwindled.

Local restrictions for travel have been relaxed after reporting single-digit increases of infections from the new coronavirus this month.

There were no new cases or deaths on Saturday.

Thailand has reported a total of 3,025 cases of the coronavirus and 56 fatalities.

Malls and department stores are allowed to re-open on Sunday, May 17.

Thailand will also shorten a nighttime curfew by one hour to 11pm to 4am, from 10pm to 4am.

The aviation regulator first introduced the suspension of international flights in April.
