Ren Ci hospital nurse among 570 new Covid-19 cases on May 20

This brings Singapore's total of Covid-19 cases to 29,364.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 570 new cases of Covid-19 infection as of 12pm today (May. 20)

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 29,364, with the majority of cases continuing to be Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

Majority of cases continue to be migrant workers

562 of the new cases are Work Permit holders residing in dormitories, while there are five new cases of Work Permit holders living outside of dormitories.

There are no new imported cases today.

One Singaporean and one Permanent Resident are among the new community cases.

In addition, one patient is a Work Pass holder who is a nurse at Ren Ci Community Hospital.

According to MOH, Case 29069 is a 30-year-old female Filipino national who is a Singapore Work Pass holder and has no recent travel history to affected countries or regions.

She was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on May 19, and is currently warded at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases.

She is employed as a nurse at Ren Ci Community Hospital but had not gone to work since onset of symptoms.

Of the new cases, 99 per cent are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.

2 new clusters

Two new clusters have been identified.

Four of the newly confirmed cases are linked to one previous case to form a new cluster 29 Senoko South Road.

One of the newly confirmed cases is linked to two previous cases to form a new cluster at 144 Tagore Lane.

As there have been no more cases linked to the construction site at Project Glory (50 Market Street) for the past two incubation periods (28 days), the cluster has now been closed.

Summary of confirmed cases

842 more cases of Covid-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

In all, 11,207 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.

Of the 954 confirmed cases who are still in hospital, most are stable or improving, 11 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

17,181 cases who have mild symptoms or who are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

22 have passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection.
