76 year-old S’porean man, Patient 1,323, is 17th Covid-19 death in S’pore

He spent 25 days in the hospital.

Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) announced two more deaths on Saturday, May 2.

While one of the deaths has occured due to Covid-19, the cause of death of the second person has yet to be established.

447 new cases were also announced on the same day, bringing the total tally of cases to 17,548.

Two deaths

A 76 year-old male Singapore Citizen (Case 1323) has passed away from complications due to Covid-19 infection on May 1. 

He was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection on April 6, and had a history of cancer.

Changi General Hospital has reached out to his family and is extending assistance to them.

Case 17410, a 47 year-old male Bangladeshi national, has passed away May 1.

He was confirmed to have Covid-19 infection after his demise.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of death.

Breakdown

The breakdown of the new cases is as follows:

Imported cases: 0

Cases in the community: 6 (4 Singaporeans/Permanent Residents, 2 Work Passes)

The number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of 23 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 12 per day in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of 14 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 6 per day in the past week.

MOH will continue to closely monitor these numbers, as well as the cases detected through their surveillance programme.

Work Permit holders (residing outside dormitories): 10

The number of new cases amongst Work Permit holders residing outside dormitories has decreased, from an average of 25 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 14 per day in the past week.

Work Permit holders (residing in dormitories): 431

MOH says it continues to pick up many more cases amongst Work Permit holders residing in dormitories, including in factory-converted dormitories, because of extensive testing in these premises.
