A Bukit Timah condominium that turned up a Covid-19 case has tightened its security measures.

Following the security breach, the burden of proof of residence at the property has been transferred to those legitimately staying there by requiring residents to show proper documentation.

This inconvenience was the result of a man circumventing security checks at Signature Park condominium to sleep over at a resident's apartment for several days during the circuit breaker period, and subsequently, testing positive for Covid-19.

It was revealed that a condo resident had driven the man into the compound, residents were told in a notice.

Residents have to prove they live there

In light of the incident, a April 27 notice also said that it is now a requirement for anyone who walks or drives into the condo at Toh Tuck Road to produce proof of residence at the guard post, including showing their identity card.

The condo has also temporarily disabled residents' access cards, car lanes and side gates.

Under the circuit breaker measures, people who do not live in the same household, including family members, are not permitted to meet except under certain circumstances.

CNA reported that the condo's residential manager said the Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed one case of Covid-19 at Signature Park, and that the condo has completed cleaning and disinfecting of affected areas.

No police report made

CNA also reported that that matter was not reported to the police.

Chan Kok Hong, managing director of Savills Property Management told CNA that the Ministry of Health will take up the case and no police report will be made.

Savills Property Management oversees a portfolio of more than 40,000 units in 135 buildings across Singapore, according to its website.

The stricter measures have not been implemented on the other properties, it was also reported.

One way security can ascertain if a resident stays in the condo is for the personnel to follow the resident back to the apartment.
