A 64-year-old Singaporean, Teo Say Leong, will be charged today (May 11) for breaching his Stay-Home Notice (SHN) on five occasions.

Teo was ordered to serve SHN after returning to Singapore from Indonesia on March 20.

He was supposed to remain inside his place of residence at all times from March 20 to April 3.

However, he left his residence at Jalan Sultan five times.

From March 23 to March 26, Teo left his residence every day for non-permitted purposes, spending about an hour outside each time.

On March 29, a team from the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) visited Teo's house for a check, and found that he was not there.

Teo bought lunch and ate outside

He had bought lunch outside and went somewhere else to eat it instead of going back to his house, spending about 50 minutes outside.

When he came back, the officers told him that he could not leave his house at any time during his SHN.

ICA investigated Teo's breach and in consultation with the Attorney-General's Chambers, Teo will be charged for offences under Section 21A of the Infectious Diseases Act and the Infectious Diseases (Covid-19 – Stay Orders) Regulations 2020.

If convicted, he faces a fine of up to S$10,000, a prison sentence of six months, or both.

ICA will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone breaching SHN, or providing false or misleading information during their travel declarations when arriving in Singapore.

Members of the public can report information about anyone who fails to comply with SHN requirements to ICA at go.gov.sg/reportshnbreach or 6812 5555.
