On Apr. 11, a Singapore resident received a warning letter from the police for visiting his mother in Jurong West.

Subsequently, a Twitter user who claimed to be the resident's brother said that the warning was issued after a "random check" by the police.

Enforcing measures while attending to another incident

In a release on Apr. 14, the police clarified that they do not proactively conduct checks at residential units for the purposes of enforcing the elevated safe distancing measures.

However, if they come across anyone flouting the measures when attending to other incidents, enforcement action will be taken.

This was the case for the resident above, the police said.

They had received a call on Apr. 11, for assistance over a family dispute.

They then responded at about 9:55pm to the case, which was at a residential unit located at Jurong West Avenue 1.

During the engagement, police officers discovered that there were two visiting family members in that residential unit.

The two visiting members were the man who had called for police assistance, and his wife.

The police then issued a warning to the visiting couple, who were there for non-essential purposes.
