The slump caused by Covid-19 has been felt keenly by many.
Hit especially hard are those who work in the entertainment industry.
In an Instagram post on April 16, local Mandopop queen Stefanie Sun said that many in the industry are now facing a lot of uncertainty.
"Musicians, performers as well as all related services such as dancers, production teams, artiste management, stylists who rely on gigs and ad hoc jobs find themselves jobless and incomes hard hit."
But these are not the only ones affected by Covid-19.
Those who come from lower-income families, families with children and the elderly, people with disabilities and the elderly who live alone are disproportionately affected by a crisis like Covid-19.
Sun appealed to Singaporeans to give to the Invictus Fund, which will channel the resources to 80 social services that deliver critical services to vulnerable groups.
Set up by the National Council of Social Service, the Invictus Fund will finance social service agencies' operations and business continuity initiatives during the Covid-19 crisis.
This will enable these agencies to continue helping those in need.
Sun is not the only celebrity who has helped to promote the Invictus Fund.
Celebrities like Sharon Au, Fann Wong, Christopher Lee, Cynthia Koh, and Andie Chen have also posted appeals on their social media.
