The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is rolling out safe distancing stickers and thermal scanners on the public transport network.

This is in line with the government's elevated set of safe distancing measures that kicked in on Apr. 7 to help contain the spread of Covid-19.

Safe distancing stickers

These stickers (shown below) will be progressively rolled out in all trains, train stations, buses, bus interchanges, and bus stops.

Some trains already sport these stickers.

Commuters should avoid sitting on seats marked with the sticker on the right.

The sticker on the left marks areas where commuters should stand so that they can maintain safe distances from others.

LTA will also be progressively deploying Transport Ambassadors in the coming weeks to help ensure that commuters adhere to these safe distancing measures.

These Transport Ambassadors, together with public transport operators, bus captions, and LTA enforcement officers, will ensure that commuters put a safe distance between them.

For instance, they can limit the number of commuters who can enter trains stations and buses.

Thermal scanners to be deployed at selected MRT stations

LTA will also deploy thermal scanners at selected stations to screen commuters before they enter the public transport network.

Commuters who have been picked up by the scanners as having a fever will not be allowed to enter the station and be asked to seek medical attention at the nearest clinic immediately."

For a start, these thermal scanners have been deployed at Serangoon and Tiong Bahru MRT stations.

LTA also reminded commuters to be socially responsible and avoid unnecessary commutes.

Those who are unwell should avoid travelling on the public transport network and, instead, visit the nearest clinic.

Those who need to travel for essential purposes should put on a reusable face mask when travelling in the public transport network, refrain from crowding, and follow the instructions given by Transport Ambassadors and LTA’s enforcement officers.
