Muslims currently residing in the Singapore Expo isolation facility conducted their terawih prayers during the start of the Islamic month of Ramadan, under special conditions.

Terawih prayers are optional, but they recommended prayers that are performed at night during the month of Ramadan.

Due to the Covid-19 situation, the Muslims at Expo prayed while wearing masks and kept a safe distance from one another.

Only those who were not feverish were allowed to take part.

The time-lapse video made for quite a sight:

Many of the migrant workers who are currently staying at Expo are Muslims.

As they could not visit the mosque due to the isolation measures, they conducted the prayer at Expo instead.

Praying together

The Facebook user who uploaded the video, who goes by Muhammad Nasiruddin, said on Apr. 24 that while they could not congregate outside, they at least had the opportunity to pray within the facility.

But Nasiruddin gave thanks to the asatizah (religious teachers) who provided words of encouragement for their health and recovery.

Nasiruddin, who identified himself as a Covid-19 patient "since Apr. 8", added: "Please keep us in your doa (prayers) so that we will be back with society."
