A 55-year-old man has been charged with one count of voluntarily causing hurt after he allegedly slapped a female staff at an Esso petrol station at 1 Jervois Road on Apr. 12.

Refused to wear a mask

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in a press release that the female service attendant had advised the man to wear a mask before entering the store.

However, he refused to do so.

The man subsequently became agitated and allegedly slapped the woman's face.

Charged with three offences

According to CNA, the man, Alan Lim, was charged with three offences today (Apr. 22).

Aside from the alleged slap, Lim also allegedly cursed at the woman and pushed her shoulders with both hands.

Lim was charged with one count of voluntarily causing hurt for slapping the female worker's left cheek.

If found guilty, he could be jailed for up to two years, or face a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.

If convicted for using criminal force, he could face a jail term of up to three months, get fined up to S$1,500, or both.

For cursing at the woman, Lim could be jailed for up to six months, or face a maximum fine of S$5,000, or both.

He will return to court in May 2020 for a pre-trial conference.
