As those in Singapore and Malaysia are confined to their homes due to the Circuit Breaker and Movement Control Order (MCO) respectively, some might certainly experience some boredom with this restriction of mobility.
One man in Malaysia though, has channeled the free time and energy he has during the lockdown to transforming his plain old bedroom into one worthy of a being a showroom.
Saved money for five years
34-year-old Fiq Said told Malaysian news site SAYS that he had never had the time or money to redecorate his room in years.
After saving up money for the past five years, Fiq had planned to renovate his room right before Hari Raya.
Incidentally, the MCO period now allowed him enough time to go about his bedroom makeover.
Previously, Fiq had been sleeping on mattress laid out on the floor.
This has now been swapped with a loft bed, which he told SAYS was installed before the MCO started, alongside the larger furniture like his wardrobe.
The transformation was likened to something out of an IKEA showroom.
Here's the before and after.
During the MCO, he subsequently ordered other furniture like the desk, and assembled other items such as the shelves.
The walls of Fiq's room previously seemed quite drab and dirty as well. He shared that he spent some time scraping the old paint off his walls, window grilles and ceilings, and then gave them a new coat of white paint.
Fiq has clearly invested in more accessories like a furry carpet and some plants to spruce up the room as well.
Major decluttering
Here's the before and after from the doorway.
The room has undergone some amazing decluttering too.
Fiq has since taken to Twitter to document the makeover, and his tweet has gone viral, garnering over 7,400 retweets.
This was his accompanying caption:
"The result of 28-day MCO. MCO still continuing and @ikeamalaysia still closed."

Here's the list of IKEA furniture Fiq bought.
From the prices he listed here, Fiq appears to have spent at least RM3,817 (S$1,241), excluding the wardrobe and other accessories.
